Connecting cultures sounds and stories
‘Our Voice’ is Coming to Rossendale Radio! Get ready for an exciting new show, ‘Our Voice,’ on Rossendale Radio 104.7FM and online at RossendaleRadio.com. Tune in on Thursday, 28th November, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, as we shine a spotlight on the amazing people, events, and stories that make our community special.
Our Voice is more than just a radio show; it’s a platform for our GEM community in the Valley to celebrate, inform, and inspire. By combining music, culture, and community updates, the show will become a vibrant hub where local stories, heritage, and leadership are amplified, ensuring that everyone’s contributions are valued and heard.
- Culture: We’ll showcase traditional and contemporary music from across Asia, Africa, Europe and Middle East blending sounds that reflect the rich diversity of the community, from classical to modern, to create a tapestry of identity.
- Representation: The show will feature conversations with local leaders, activists, and influencers from the GEM community. It will be a space where underrepresented voices are heard and celebrated, promoting equitable leadership and visibility.
- Events: Our Voice will also serve as a bulletin for community events, highlighting local festivals, cultural celebrations, and opportunities for people to engage, network, and grow.
Why We Are Doing It:
The purpose of Our Voice is to ensure that the stories, contributions, and leadership from the GEM community in the Valley are not only heard but celebrated. In an increasingly diverse world, it’s vital that communities with rich cultural heritages are given platforms where they can connect, represent themselves authentically, and share their experiences. This show will bridge the gap between generations, provide a space for current and emerging leaders to share their vision, and help the community stay informed and engaged.
At its heart, Our Voice is about creating equity. It is a step toward a world where representation matters, and where cultural contributions from Global Ethnic Majority communities are given the recognition and space they deserve.
Want to get involved? Do you have a community event, activity, or service you’d like to share? Want to sponsor the show or offer a prize to gain fantastic exposure for your organisation? We’ll make sure to give you a special shout-out during the programme!
