What is Our Voice?
We have created a platform for members of Global Ethnic Minority (GEM) communities to share their stories, experiences, and contributions that are often overlooked in mainstream media and public discourse.
GEM communities face exclusion not only in employment and educational opportunities but also from the broader global and historical narratives. Discussions surrounding race, migration, and diversity have become increasingly dominated by ill-informed, populist narratives. These harmful viewpoints can manifest in events like the far-right riots of August 2024, fuelling misconceptions and biases that overshadow our valuable contributions and sideline our voices.
Our Voice fills this gap by providing a space where GEM communities can share their stories, highlight their achievements, and correct the misconceptions that too often persist. This platform not only informs society but also empowers GEM individuals to take control of their narratives, ensuring that their voices are heard, respected, and valued.

Mission:
Our mission is to use lived experience and digital spaces to amplify GEM communities’ contributions and stories, ensuring they are not distorted, devalued, or omitted.
Vision:
Our Vision is a world where GEM voices are recognised, valued, and integrated into the global narrative.
How Will Our Voice Achieve Its Mission?
We believe in three guiding principles that inspire our community to take action and create change:

Having the courage to face and address difficult issues of discrimination, highlighting the emotional strength needed to confront sensitive topics. It emphasises the determination to challenge the status quo and stand up for justice, resonating deeply with those affected and those advocating for change.
#BeAuthentic
Displays truth and honesty, and empowers individuals to own and share their genuine stories. This authenticity challenges stereotypes, builds trust, and create a deeper understanding of GEM cultures and contributions
#BeThatChange
Highlights the power of personal action in driving societal progress. By embodying the change we want to see, we inspire others, create immediate impacts, and ensure sustained commitment to our ideals.

We have already launched a monthly radio show, the first of its kind in the valley, that will celebrate and share culture, sounds and stories.
