At PEP, we know that when women are empowered, entire communities thrive. But too often, women, especially those from the Global Ethnic Majority (GEM), face barriers that hold them back. We’re here to change that. We believe every woman deserves to be heard, to succeed, and to lead with confidence.

That’s why we’re dedicated to creating real pathways for women to grow, both personally and professionally, because we know that supporting their journey is key to social change.

For over 14 years, our CEO, an inspiring woman leader, has made women’s empowerment her mission. She’s created spaces where women from GEM backgrounds can flourish, ensuring their voices are not just heard but celebrated. Through her vision, we’ve created an environment where women’s talents are recognised, their aspirations supported, and their leadership potential unlocked.

Take our Empowering Walk Club as an example. We discovered that only 52% of GEM women meet the recommended activity levels, compared to 65% of White women. During the pandemic, our CEO launched a consultation about setting up a women’s walking group—and the response was overwhelming. Now, over 1,900 women have joined the club, coming together for weekly walks that are more than just exercise. These walks are about building friendships, boosting confidence, and making healthier life choices. Led by volunteer women, they’ve become a vital part of our community fabric, proving that when we come together, we grow stronger.

We’re also passionate about helping women gain the skills and knowledge they need to thrive. Over the years, we’ve run workshops and accredited courses that blend emotional wellbeing with practical skills like IT training. These sessions have reached over 600 women, giving them the tools to pursue further education, employment, and a better understanding of their goals. Every year, around 15 to 20 women move into further education, 36 enrol in basic skills courses, and 12 secure jobs they once thought were out of reach. And what’s even more powerful is 88% of the women we work with report feeling more confident and empowered to take on life’s challenges.

We do this because we believe in the power of women, especially those who have been marginalised the most. At PEP, we’re not just creating opportunities—we’re igniting change, one woman at a time.
