Employability Workshop

We at PEP are thrilled to announce the launch of our “ESOL with Employability” course, a dynamic 10-week pilot programme run in partnership with WEA and DWP. Join us as we empower our community towards brighter futures!

April – July 2024

The “ESOL with Employability” course was successfully delivered at Scaitcliffe Community Centre, engaging 15-20 GEM clients over 10 weeks. This pilot programme, developed in partnership with WEA and DWP, focuses on enhancing language proficiency alongside essential employability skills. Participants learned to identify transferable skills, develop CVs, and improve job search strategies in a supportive and engaging environment.

Learning Outcomes:

Course Description

The “ESOL with Employability” course is designed to enhance employability for GEM clients through an intensive 10-week programme. Led by a qualified tutor in a supportive environment, participants will improve their language skills and build essential employability competencies, including teamwork, IT skills, CV writing, and effective communication.

The course focuses on enhancing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, incorporating work-related vocabulary and grammar. A diagnostic assessment will help identify language gaps, and progress will be monitored throughout the course.

Participants will have direct access to PEP for ongoing job search support and volunteering opportunities. By the end of the programme, they can transition to accredited ESOL and maths courses to further enhance their qualifications and confidence in the job market.

This pilot programme will recommence in autumn, and we look forward to welcoming more GEM clients to this enriching experience!
